Open learning is gaining stronger momentum in the Arab world, with a number of organizations and governments within the region pushing towards stronger open learning infrastructure and awareness. To ensure momentum to promote and enable open access to learning across the Arab world grows and is inclusive, Community Jameel, the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, the Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) at MIT, and the American University of Beirut hosted an intimate 60-minute roundtable discussion at the RewirED Summit.

Through discussion, we hoped to spur a stronger understanding in the region of the positive impact of open learning, as well as:
  • Develop actions towards stronger legislation
  • Understand financing towards achieving these goals
  • Ensuring there is more freely available and equitable information
  • Better understand financial structures of how to sustainability create open access material
