J-WEL HE Workshop - Designing for Learning: From Principles to Practice, June 8-12, 2020

June 8-12, 2020 at MIT

This workshop provides an opportunity to learn about evidence-based practices for design and implementation of learning experiences. You will apply practical strategies and tools to create a problem-based, student-centered curriculum strongly grounded in instructional design principles. You will examine and evaluate learning practices based on findings from learning sciences, and will engage in hands-on activities to create prototypes of digital or face-to-face lesson content. You will be introduced to examples of best practices employed at MIT presented by experts from different disciplines. You will select one of two tracks: one focused on digital learning experiences, or one focusing on in-person classroom instruction.  Joint sessions will address topics common to both tracks, and parallel sessions will provide opportunities for more detailed discussions regarding each focus area. In either track, you will develop a small project building on one of the topics presented. You will have the opportunity to develop a community of practice around shared interests.
