Webinar Description:
Against the historical and regulatory backdrop of teacher education and development in the Philippines, this session will illustrate how the National Teachers College is responding uniquely to the need of establishing a culture of agency among pre-service and in-service teachers. Our training approach is informed by outcomes-driven learning experience design, as well as employability-oriented delivery and assessment. This approach emphasizes making the experience fun and frustration-free, even for under-resourced teachers. During this session, we will also discuss how to use this framework to sustain engagement for sustainability and scalability, taking into account remote learning conditions during the pandemic and hopefully, even beyond.
This webinar is free and open to the public.

Noel Jeffrey TorregozaDirector of Learning and DevelopmentCenter for Education Innovation National Teachers College Noel holds a degree in Organizational Communication, and a certificate in Project Initiation and Planning. He has spent the last 13 years leading Learning & Development teams for various BPO organizations, as well as launching and leading educational reform projects within the Ayala Education and iPO schools in the Philippines. In 2012, Noel co-developed Ayala Education’s employment program, which has consistently produced a 90% hire rate from its graduating class, in jobs that average 25% more pay compared to control group wages. In 2016, Noel led the teacher training & development efforts for APEC, a system of 25 private schools across Metro Manila and nearby provincial locations. By establishing systems for skills assessment, training, and performance monitoring, he helped APEC hire, onboard, and upskill 140 teachers, across 20 sites in the summer prior to their initial Senior High School launch. This was done while ensuring the faculty’s ability and willingness to pivot to a Constructivist teaching environment; resulting in learners who were markedly improved in their communication and logio-mathematical abilities. Upon the merger of Ayala Education and iPeople in 2019, Noel began to lead the Center for Education Innovation at the National Teachers College. With the expectation of iPO system-wide support, Noel now focuses on supporting the development & delivery of industry-driven Outcomes-based Curriculum, as well as designing a Teacher Training & Development system to catalyze the group’s education transformation efforts. |
