MIT-Boeing Announce New MIT xPRO Online Course in Additive Manufacturing

J-WEL’s Workplace Learning Collaborative’s “Workgroup on the Workforce of 2025” identifies skills that will be required in the workplace of the future as a result of new developments, including Additive Manufacturing (AM). AM, sometimes referred to as 3D printing, is set to have a significant impact on the factory of the future. Indeed, “knowledge of the fundamental principles, applications, and business applications of AM” is already in high demand. Yet few people in the workforce have a sophisticated understanding of AM; this is particularly true of employees who graduated more than a few years ago. With this in mind, MIT and Boeing have collaborated to create a new MIT xPRO course: Additive Manufacturing for Innovative Design and Production. 

This nine-week, online course is aimed at professionals who want to remain competitive in their industry by learning how to create new products, processes, and business models using 3D printing. From MITxPro:

Join leading MIT faculty and industry experts in addressing the full spectrum of AM technologies─ for polymers, metals, composites, and other advanced materials. Walk away with the knowledge and confidence to identify valuable applications of AM, and to architect and implement innovative uses of AM across the product lifecycle.

The course also incorporates advanced digital designmodeling, and visualization tools, as well as an in-depth case study, where you will solve a real-world design or business strategy problem using your new knowledge of AM.
